Jeff Hexter (tech support extraordinaire and pirate – yes, that one) always says, Networking only works if there’s kindness in it. He says this for basically two reasons – 1) he experiences it every day, and 2) together we facilitate a weekly networking group of very kind people who connect all of us to other kind people. And we solve a LOT of problems!
The reason I’m telling you this is that Patricia (yes, that one) posted photos of and links to my work, encouraging people to reach out and follow what I’m doing on her Instagram! Isn’t that kindness?

This is what I mean about Patricia getting interested in and encouraging whatever your interests are.
She remembers everything and makes sure it happens, like
- I wanted to sit and listen to the water
- I wanted to visit a fairy ring
- I wanted to visit a whole list of castles around Clew Bay
- I wanted to get a photo of Clew Bay from the Murrisk side without actually climbing the Reek
- And yes, I wanted to know how to work the washer in the apartment I’m renting. And my phone.
And Patricia suggested adding, very carefully she suggested it, some places she knew of that are similar to my interests, but that I didn’t know to ask for, like
- The abandoned village on Achill Island
- A small roadside pub with turf burning in the grate
- A tidal island that would show me what my ancestors’ islands were like
- My grandmother’s schoolhouse in Kilmeena
- A traditional pub and another with amazing trad music
One of the many aspects of Patricia’s “service” (in quotes because I want to say, Friendship!) is her ability to tell me how long each excursion will take. She’s really accurate; and when we go over it’s because we added to the itinerary. She checks with me every step of the way. She wisely assumes nothing.

Westport has been named the best place to live in Ireland and is regularly listed as one of the most gorgeous places in Ireland. I promise you won’t be disappointed in Westport, and you already know you won’t be disappointed in Patricia.
