Westport Part 1
I thought this post was going to take 5 or 10 minutes. “Upload the photos and be done,” I thought. But once again, a 6 to 7 hour piece of work is ahead of me. And I’m not going to get it done or do it justice.
So, for those who are following the daily updates daily, here are a few photos. More content will be here sometime.

This gray building is one of the planned houses in Westport. I’ll write up more about this in Part 2. But first I wanted to capture these chimneys in a photo so I can paint them.

One of several gate houses for the Westport House estate sits across a lane from the library.
It’s now a firearms dealer.

The Mall of Westport Town was planned for elite persons in the community. Here are some of their townhouses along the Mall – the straightened Carrow Beg river. “Beg” means small. I wonder if there is a Carrow Mór. (Patricia says no, so I’m going with that.)

The Octagon was laid out to be a market area. The large dark gray building is the Market House – all very controlled.

Another view of The Octagon with my favorite yellow buildings. The Octagon is where Mary O’Toole found me in my time of need last week, and also where I know enough where I am that I can ask her to pick me up there. The traffic this day is intense. There is a chamber fest in town.

As many of you know, my former husband and his family were refugees from Ukraine another time the Russians invaded their country. St. Mary’s church in Westport added a Black Madonna to their Mary altar for the refugees who are living in Westport now. My mother-in-law kept a painting just like this in her dining room. She was convinced the Blessed Mother protected her and her two baby boys on their journey across Europe until the family were reunited and eventually came to America.

And finally, because it was so gorgeous and clear, here is a photo of Clare Island in the distance from the Quay after I got back.
