I only know three (3!) people in Ireland – Niall and Brid at the bookshop, and Mary O’Toole my driver/orienteering person.
After walking up steep hills into town for shampoo, etc., it was starting to rain; I needed a ride back.
Mary O’Toole is off for a few days, but she said to text if I need anything and she’ll give me a referral. So I texted.
Not two minutes later, Mary showed up next to me! She hadn’t even had a moment to read my text! She just miraculously appeared in the exact spot I needed her. She took me home, and will text with contact info for two drivers for the rest of the week while she is gone.
I think never in her life has Mary O’Toole uttered the famous, “I will, yeah!”
She also realized, so she did, that it’s possible I will need medical attention while I’m here and it would be better if I had the correct number to call now, so it would, before there’s any issue. And she got two medical numbers for me, depending on the time of day I need them.
I want a character in my story who just shows up with solutions on her way to others who need help. That character likely will hail from the Clew Bay area – sure they would.
Sorry, Cary, I’m catching up on my leftovers.
