The trip itself is getting real!
Today I reached out to two Heritage Centres, TSA, Aer Lingus, AAA, Apple (to get a refund for a phone), and a lovely Rotarian, Ed Thomas. I’m a member of the Rotary Club of Cleveland OH, as is Ed – though I’m a newbie and he’s a past president of our Club. Ed wrote two histories – one of our Club and another of the founder of the international Rotary Foundation, Arch Klumph.
Rotary is a world-wide organization of people who want to serve their communities and the world and have fun doing it. It’s a great place to make good friends. Ed is knocking himself out to get me his two books to take to the Rotary Clubs in Ireland that I will be visiting. The first is in Castlebar and the second is in Cork.
Cork is celebrating their 100 th Anniversary and the all-island Conference of Clubs is the last weekend in September while I’m still in Ireland. I’m excited to meet District Governor George Roche and Rotarians from all over Ireland and hear what they’ve been up to, like helping to eradicate polio globally, feeding hungry people and mentoring youth.
